Learn Japanese Zakka Sewing: Sew a “Bunko-Bon” Manga Cover May 4 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

“Zakka” craft is a Japanese art that encourages cozy, handmade items for functional everyday use. In this class Madison May of CUT/SEW Sewing Patterns (www.cutsew.co) will lead attendees through the history of Zakka handicrafts and teach each student how to complete a beautiful and practical “bunko-bon” book cover for manga, paperbacks, and other reading materials. We’ll machine sew and then hand embellish our book cover with traditional Japanese “sashiko” style stitching to create a handmade finished product with a Japanese flair.
