Supply List for Easy Endless Quilt Binding
Teacher: Rose Mary Huber Pauls
You will be binding a small piece in class. You need to come to class with a medium/small wall hanging or table runner quilted and ready to trim and bind. A great piece for the class is to use two fat quarters and quilt them together with channel or free motion quilting. It is a perfect size to complete in class and you end up with a table topper to use as a centerpiece or oversize placemat. Do not trim or square up the piece. The accurate/easy way to do this will be demonstrated in the class,
Fabric for binding – Measure all sides of the project. You will need enough fabric to cut as many strips needed to go around your project, plus at least 20 inches extra. The strips we will cut 2 ¾” wide by the 45” width of the fabric. If you are using the fat quarter project size you would need 3 strips cut 2 ¾” wide
Example: If you have a 45” square wall hanging you would calculate as follows. 45×4=180+20=200. Fabric width is 44”. 200 divided by 44=4.55 strips. Since you are over 4 strips you will need enough fabric to cut 5 strips x 2.75 inches. Total would be 13.75 inches. Of course you would round up. A little extra never hurt. That just means more for your stash.
Other supplies:
Sewing machine in good working order
Rotary Mat
Rotary Cutter
6” x 24” Quilting ruler
Thread to blend with fabrics
One bobbin wound with thread to blend
Clear Monofiliment thread
Chalk pencil and/or fabric marking pen
Stiletto
Large head pins or quilt clips
The classroom has large cutting mats, irons and ironing boards if you do not want to bring your own. For an all day class you might want to pack a lunch (Aldi and Le Gong restaurant are in our strip mall as an alternative)
