Supply List for Sewing 101

For the first class session please bring:

Sewing Machine in good working order.  Always a good idea to clean, oil, put a new needle in before class.  Bring the manual for the machine if you are not familiar with all aspects of the machine or if the techniques in class are new to you.

Empty bobbin

Spool of white/black thread

Craft Scissors

Universal machine needles 

 

We will go over the rest of the supply list together in class and discuss how to purchase the following basic sewing supplies for these two projects before the second session. 

 

Straight Pins (1.5 of 1.75 with glass ball heads)

Pin Cushion

Safety Pins (small and medium size)

Clear Tape

Hand Needles (assorted pack)

Fabric Scissors

Thread Snips or Embroidery Scissors

Seam Ripper

Clear Quilting Ruler (at least 16-18 inches long)

Seam Gauge

Fabric Marking Tool (pen, marker, or chalk)

½ yard fabric for exterior of bag

½ yard fabric for interior of bag and pocket

¼ yard lining material for eye mask 

⅛ yard cotton batting

½ inch elastic (15-20 inches, based on size of your head)

 

We will use PDF patterns for both projects. Students will need to be able to download and print off pattern pages outside of class. We will assemble pattern pieces together in class. 

 

The classroom has large cutting mats, irons and ironing boards if you do not want to bring your own.  For an all day class you might want to pack a lunch (Aldi and Le Gong restaurant are in our strip mall as an alternative)

Class Policies

• Classes require a minimum of 4 students. If the minimum is not reached 2 weeks before class, it will be cancelled and students will receive a full refund.
• If you have registered for a class and must cancel, please contact us ASAP. You must cancel at least two (2) weeks in advance to receive a refund or credit. No credit for no-shows.
• In deference to those with sensitivities, we ask that you refrain from wearing perfume or other scented products
• We would appreciate it if you purchase your supplies at Sew Much More. We will be happy to assist you in gathering all the necessary materials – and give you a 15% discount!
