Supply List for Black Diamonds Quilt

Basic Sewing Supplies (Pins, needles, scissors, rotary cutter, thread, seam ripper, rulers Add specifics if needed) Sewing Machine in good working order.  Always a good idea to clean, oil, put a new needle in before class.  Bring the manual for the machine if you are not familiar with all aspects of the machine or if the techniques in class are new to you. 

Fabric requirements for approx 60” x 78” quilt  (increase amounts for larger quilt): 

White or other background fabric – 2 1/2 yds – Cut 132, 3 ½” squares. You’ll also use this fabric for the inner border. 

Assorted Blacks with White Bits – You’ll need 70, 6” squares of black fabric with white print (small bits of white print work best, not large white objects).  It’s especially fun to swap fabric squares with friends/classmates.  We will conduct an optional fabric swap at this class! You’ll need approx 2 yards total (4, ½ yard cuts) cut into 6” squares. Please let instructor Bill know if you plan to swap fabric at class. 

Black for Border – 1 yd  You may choose solid black or black with white bits for the outer border. 

Colorful Squares – You’ll need 132, 3” squares for the inner section of the quilt.  Use scraps, fat quarters or your absolutely most favorite fabric! Choose your own theme. Sample quilt has a variety of red batiks.  

Equipment Needed:

Rotary cutter, Mat and Ruler – a 12” x 12” (or larger) cutting mat and a 6” x 12” (or larger) ruler with clear ¼” marks will work well. Larger is Ok. Have Questions, please ask Bill.

The classroom has large cutting mats, irons and ironing boards if you do not want to bring your own.  For an all day class you might want to pack a lunch (Aldi and Le Gong restaurant are in our strip mall as an alternative)

Class Policies

• Classes require a minimum of 4 students. If the minimum is not reached 2 weeks before class, it will be cancelled and students will receive a full refund.
• If you have registered for a class and must cancel, please contact us ASAP. You must cancel at least two (2) weeks in advance to receive a refund or credit. No credit for no-shows.
• In deference to those with sensitivities, we ask that you refrain from wearing perfume or other scented products
• We would appreciate it if you purchase your supplies at Sew Much More. We will be happy to assist you in gathering all the necessary materials – and give you a 15% discount!
