Are you curious about free motion quilting? Do you want to move beyond the space in a traditional domestic machine? Whether you are brand new to sit-down longarm quilting or have already put your toes in the water, you will learn a lot in this 2 day class. We will primarily focus on the Bernina Q-series sit-down longarm quilting machines but also explore the frame models and their features. You will learn all about the features of these fantastic quilting machines and how you can use them to turn your quilt tops into finished quilts.

In this hands on class, we will explore many facets of Free Motion Quilting including fun fillers (loop de loop, pebbles, paisley bands and more), ruler work quilting beyond straight lines, and the McTavish Quilting technique. We will explore different quilting designs for blocks and then mark “blocks” so that we can quilt them. We will explore Twin Needle quilting and Couching with yarn. If students are interested, we’ll even have a discussion about “How Should I Quilt This?” and students may bring a quilt top to discuss. You do not need to own a Bernina machine to take this workshop. We will provide everything you need for this class. All you need to bring is a notebook and small scissors.
