Students interested in garment sewing will start at the very beginning and learn fundamental sewing construction skills that are essential for sewing clothes.Students will make a lined tote bag with an internal pocket and an eye mask with an elastic strap.

Students will Learn How To:

Thread and operate sewing machine, select fabric for projects, cut and lay out fabric pieces, read a sewing pattern, sew straight and curved lines, incorporate a lining, use interfacing, sew a casing, insert elastic, clip and trim curves, press seams, and finishing techniques.

Skills gained in this class will prepare students to move on to sewing simple clothing patterns with confidence.

Bring your sewing machine, empty bobbin, spool of white/black thread, and scissors to the first class. We will go over the rest of the supply list together in class and discuss how to purchase materials for this project.
